material, to ensure the safe and effective use of Chinese

Medicinal herbal materials are either wildly
grown or cultivated. The quality of herbal medicinal material
can be influenced by region, environment, climate, and
harvest season. As a result, the quality of herbal medicinal
material frequently varies from batch to batch. In addition,
several different herb species may share the same product
name, while a single herb species may have several synonyms.
Consequently, for a long time, the market of Chinese herbal
medicinal material products are flooded with countless
misapplications, adulterants, and substitutes. Therefore,
the safety and effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicinal
products are jeopardized. Thus, authentication of the
plant species of Chinese herbal medicinal material is
no doubt one of the most important issues for practicing
